OMEGA’S high accuracy PX409 Series Pressure Transducers have a proven record in high-performance commercial and aerospace applications for over 25 years. A full Wheatstone bridge is diffused into a silicon wafer and then micro-machined to exacting standards to produce a silicon sensor that has excellent stability, linearity, repeatability, and excellent long-term stability. At our state-of-the-art facilities, transducers are calibrated using extremely high accuracy equipment, and a 5-point NIST traceable calibration certificate is included with each model. All Stainless Steel wetted parts, welded construction and premium temperature compensation makes transducers suitable for use in tough industrial environments. OMEGA’s free downloadable Software provides advanced data logging capabilities hence add value and flexibility to your transducer performance.
Build/Order/Ship OMEGA’S MM Series Custom Pressure Transducers to meet your pressure sensing requirements: As a lead pressure transducer manufacturer, Omega has developed a new interactive configuration tool that provides a fast and simple way to build custom transducer suitable for application. MM Series custom transducers allow for over 1-million possible combinations of parameters such as pressure type, range, unit, material, output, accuracy, fitting, temperature compensation range, and electrical termination. At the end of the process, the Configurator will provide a part number, price and delivery time for the transducer. For more information about Configurator, Options Selection and FAQs.

Some of the most Popular Applications of Pressure Transducers include:
What is the accuracy of the PX409 Series?
The PX409 Series has a high accuracy of ± 0.08% BSL and includes linearity, hysteresis, and repeatability. To obtain their high accuracy and stability, the PX409 Series uses state-of-the-art digital mapping of the temperature, pressure, and output performance of the silicon sensor in conjunction with a custom ASIC to provide dynamic thermal compensation across the temperature and pressure parameters.
Is the PX409 Series suitable for any liquid and gas applications?
OMEGA piezoresistive pressure transducers have a proven record in high performance commercial and aerospace applications for over 25 years. The piezoresistive process and the construction of the PX409 Series provides a very rugged transducer with exceptional accuracy, stability, and thermal effects. The PX409 Series is all stainless steel (316 SS) wetted parts. Please ensure the media under measurement is compatible with wetted parts.
What is the power supply for the PX409 Series?
The power supply of the PX409 Series depends on the output of the chosen model and power supply fluctuation protection is standard on all models. Please refer to the table below for details.
Output Model | Power Supply |
0 to 5 Vdc | 10 to 30 Vdc@10 mA |
0 to 10 Vdc | 15 to 30 Vdc@10 mA |
4 to 20 mA | 9 to 30 Vdc |
10 mV/V | Ratiometric 5 to 10 Volts DC |
Is the PX409 Series calibrated?
The Px409 Series are calibrated using extremely high accuracy equipment and a 5-point NIST traceable calibration certificate that is included with each transducer. It is recommended that the sensor be recalibrated once a year. The most popular ranges and configurations are stocked for immediate delivery. All others typically have a very short lead-time.
How can I install a PX409 Series in a pipe? Does it need a specific orientation (vertical or horizontal)?
The PX409 Series has a ¼ - 18 NPT male fitting that is threaded into a pipe fitting for installation. There is no specific orientation needed – the unit is calibrated in the vertical direction with fitting down. The sensor is designed to be quickly customized to meet your exacting specifications, often with fast delivery.

reliable but mediocre structural integrity
generally the npt threads are quite weak and we have sheared off multiple from the bodies of the sensors

You can specify the "pressure type" measurement as "gauge" or "vacuum". What exactly does the vacuum pressure type mean? It is the same as absolute pressure?
Vacuum pressure type means it's a sensor scaled to measure vacuum reference to Gage (reference is vented to the atmosphere). This is different than an Absolute unit which is reference to a sealed internal vacuum reference.

Is there an option to add grid lines to the charting area?
There is no option to add grid lines to the charting area.

Can the PX409 series be used to measure oil pressure? I cannot find any info stating the acceptable mediums.
Thanks for your Question. The PX409-001CG10V is a 316 Stainless Steel unit that can be used to measure oil. Please check your oil chemical compatibility with 316SS. Please call or email us at pressure@omega.com with any further questions.

Will MMDDB2.5BIV10P4C5T1A3, listed as bi-directional differential pressure, 0-2.5 psi, read vacuum if the low port is connected to the vacuum process and the high port open to atmosphere? Will it work with both ports across different vacuums?
If you connect a vacuum to the low and leave the high port open to atmosphere the unit will output 0 to -10VDC if a vacuum id applied to the LOW port. If you apply varying vacuums to both ports the unit will respond with a sign representing the difference between the vacuums applied ranging from -10VDC to +10VDC

What is the resolution limit on this device? I'm interested in your 0-2 bar sensor and what the lowest pressure value it is able to measure accurately.
Resolution would depend on how small of a signal change the instrumentation used to read the 0 to 10VDC output can resolve. The sensor will read from 0 to 2 bar but the lower 10% of the range (0 to 0.2 bar) would end to be less accurate

Are the high accuracy transducers rated for use with hydrogen?
We do not recommended using our transducers in a hydrogen application due to embrittlement of the wetted parts when exposed to hydrogen

Hi, we have a PX409-16BI transmitter that we are developing a validation procedure for. Stated zero and span tolerances are +/- 0.5% FS typical with a +/- 1% FS maximum. Which should I use for validation? (BSL is not a validation tolerance)
You would use the +/- 1% FS max

When you say accuracy, are you referring to the resolution or the measurement, or the actual measurement accuracy? What are the respective values of each?
Thank you for contacting Omega. The PX409 is a full analog path sensor, meaning it's resolution is essentially infinite. The accuracy we specify details the uncertainty of the output. We specify the combined uncertainty contributed by non-linearity, repeatability, and histories.
