Product Overview
SG496 and SG401 are general purpose cold-curing, 1-part glues. They are the most commonly used adhesives for strain gages. They cure in 1 minute, but require 24 hours to set. SG401 is an ethyl-based cyanoacrylate, and SG496 is a methyl-based cyanoacrylate. They have a 1-year shelf life at room temperature, but shelf life may be longer at colder temperatures. The glue temperature range is -54 to 82°C (-65 to 180°F).

NOTE: Additional Hazardous Materials carrier handling surcharges may apply for products on this page. You will be contacted by Internet Sales to confirm after the order is placed.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thank you! I received strain gages 1 moth ago. I am happy with them.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Price Gouge Just got the SG496 in the mail and it turns out it is just Loctite 496 which can be had for $25 or less on many other websites. Feeling a little ripped off.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Needs improvement I thought the kit was incomplete. They definitely need to add the rapid cure adhesive with this kit. The only useful things in this kit were the cleaning supplies and some of that was wasted by leaking out into the individual bags each of the components were sold in.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Curing temperature can be damaging to instrument It may be good to have set of cleaning and bonding, but with curing high temperature is of major concern for some application. normal temperature bonding at 20-25 oC with a couple of minutes waiting is the best solution this company has possible to provide. Sometimes parts where the gages are to be put are large and cannot get into an oven!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy Installation Pre-attached leads greatly reduce strain gauge installation time. They also eliminate gauges damaged when soldering to the element terminal pads after the strain gauge has ben attached to the test sample.

the web page on this has become confusing. SG401 is a one-part cyanoacrylate, but the links are to an epoxy kit. This became apparent when looking for the SG401 documentation, which is very hard to find now.

Thank you your inquiry. The full specification page for the TT300 2-part epoxy also contains the specifications for both the SG401 and SG496 cyanoacrylate adhesives
