Using a temperature/mA converter and a display programming front DRST-UN and DRSL-DISPLAY for a variety of applications throughout the plant has made signal monitoring more advanced – and less complicated.
As a prime supplier of hot rolled, hot rolled pickled and oiled, hot rolled coiled plate, and hot rolled specialty products, this facility supplies steel markets including pipe and tube, agricultural, construction, grating, industrial racks and shelves, off-highway, strapping, truck and trailer frames, and converters and service centers. Prior to deciding on products for signal conditioning, the facility was using a mix of various signal conditioning devices and vendors and had no official site standard. In addition, the plant staff had issues with water cooling panels for the arc furnace process which melts incoming scrap metal – the panels would overheat. Overheating issues in the arc furnace process To solve the overheating problems related to the arc furnace process there was a need to add temperature sensors and to connect resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) to the PLC. The staff at the facility asked for a demo of a temperature/mA converter like DRST-UN. In addition to its temperature sensing ability, when they discovered that the device was able to isolate the I/O and display the process values and outputs via the display/programming front like DRSL-DISPLAY, they were immediately impressed.
