OMEGA introduces the next generation of our fast response surface mount thermocouples. The new SA1XL surface thermocouple achieves response times of less than 0.15 seconds. These surface thermocouples are constructed using a Polyimide/ fiberglass junction insulation along with a fiberglass-insulated lead wire.
For more demanding applications, Stainless Steel Overbraid is available; add "-SB" option to part number. Consult Sales for pricing, or se
e the Product Specs PDF.
The SA1XL can be used as a self-adhering thermocouple for temperatures up to 260°C (500°F) or it can be cemented in place for use at temperatures up to 315°C (600°F).
Dimensions:
Patch length: 1.0” (25 mm)
Patch Width: 0.375” (9.5 mm)
Strip length 1” (25 mm) with 0.5” (12.5 mm) bare wire

Quality of product has dropped in recent years
Having issues similar to those described by other users with units DOA. We have utilized this product for years (20-100 units/year) with little to no issues. We had been satisfied with the build quality and the ability to reuse these units several times if carefully applied/removed (5 stars), but within the last 1-2 years we have started to receive units that have been DOA (plug them in out of the box before even installing or removing adhesive backing, with no readout).
The 5-packs that we are now receiving generally have 1-2 units DOA (you're lucky if this is discovered out of the box rather than after spending time installing it), not sure how this could be seen as acceptable, especially if a simple "These were received DOA" from the customer does not result in shipping of functional replacement units as long as the DOA units are returned. I have already sent back some of the bad units with a similar response from Omega indicating that a "full evaluation" would be performed. I received no additional information following the return of the units.
Please Omega, revert back to whatever manufacturing process you were utilizing prior to these issues arising.

Worked well - when they worked
I bought 20 of these and they generally worked well. However, 4 of them did not function. The adhesive was good enough, but I wish it was stronger.

Something has changed......
The sample used to work great, had some robustness and never failed out of the box. in the last two years I've had to move away from using this product due to out of the box failures, the TC themselves becoming very fragile or early failures.

ehh
Received first set and 3 of 5 didn't work immediately straight out of packaging would get no reading on meter. other two proceeded to break and come apart soon there after. Received 5 probes in replacement very easily however one of these didn't work fresh out of the box also. wouldn't order these again.

Too Fragile
We have ordered several packs of these thermocouples and even taking the most care we can to not damage them during installation, at least 1 of 5 does not work after it is installed. There seem to be some that do not work right out of the box, even before the tape is removed from the adhesive strip (so apparently these came from the factory not working). This product is ideal for a lot of what we do but we are frustrated with the high rate of product failure before use.

Great product but so overpriced!
Great product but so overpriced!
They don't even update charging ports and sell equipment that was cheap to manufacturer 10+ years ago for unbelievably high prices.
Great software so still, I keep buying it. But it's always on the company card due to my career. I'd buy something cheaper if it was my money.

Good Thermocouple for Assorted Applications
Durable and plenty accurate for our purposes. Self-adhesive makes for very convenient application to whatever surface you need to monitor.

What is the accuracy of temperature measurement?
Thank you for your inquiry heasealina. SA1XL-E has an accuracy of +/- 1.0°C or 0.4%, whichever value is greater. For more information please review this link: https://assets.omega.com/pdf/test-and-measurement-equipment/temperature/sensors/thermocouple-probes/tc_colorcodes.pdf

It appears from the "ALL MODELS" list that the only type available with self-adhesive is a Type-T. All others (J, K, & E) are listed as "Cement On" only. Is that correct?
Thank you for your inquiry. All types have are self-adhesive. The J,K & E can be used with cement to go to elevated temperature. Type T cannot.

Referring to Omega Publication https://assets.omega.com/pdf/test-and-measurement-equipment/temperature/sensors/thermocouple-probes/tc_colorcodes.pdf What is the IEC tolerance class of the SA1XL-KI ? I want to know the accuracy.
Hi KM101
Thank you for the inquiry. The SA1XL-KI will follow the ANSI SLE and EN 60584-2 Tolerance Class 1.
Best regards

We kindly want to verify SA1XL sensor: 1. the compatibility with the wireless receiver/transmitter known as "UW series compact wireless thermocouple/RTD transmitter"; and 2. can it be used several times on different surfaces?
Thank you for your inquiry. This sensor is compatible with the UW Series. These sensors are single-use. You can purchase TAP adhesive labels to re-attach sensors.

Ordering a quanity of 1 equals 5 complete thermocouples, Right?
Hi, you are correct. For this product, QTY 1 = a 5-Pack. Please reach out anytime if you have any further questions. Thank you.

If I use a SA1XL-K with connectors HMPW-K-M & F to TC wire TT-K-24S-TWSH can I consider the entire error to be ±2.2°C or 0.75% even with a differential temperature across the connector? Does the SLE of the SA1XL-K mean the metal alloy is different?
The SA1XL is SLE Special Limits of Error +/- 1.1C or 0.4% of reading and the wire is Standard Limits of Error +/- 2.2C or 0.75% of reading. The connector would not have a differential across it and is considered an isothermal connection. The Thermocouple is made by the connection of the 2 dissimilar metals generating a precise millivolt signal relative to a temperature. The entire system error without checking it's calibration would be additive of the Thermocouple and wires accuracy specification.
