Solid product, but complicated to set up
We recently purchased the iSD-TC for remote temperature monitoring and email alerts for laboratory processes. The product is well made and durable. Temperature readouts are consistent and clear. However, we're still trying to get it to connect directly to a computer or directly to the internet. Contacted customer support, and they just gave me a link to the manual. It's definitely not plug-and-play. If we could get it to connect, upload, and give results within a day after receiving, this review would be 5 stars.

Extremely unreliable
We have 3 of these units on our drug coolers and have now had to throw away several lots worth over $100k because their OS freezes up randomly when attached to a network. Unfortunately it doesn't give you a warning when it freezes up, it just stops recording critical data. We ordered brand new units thinking it would fix the problem and the new unit's OS froze up within two days. Hope they fix this bug as it would be a decent product otherwise. Their tech support was not helpful whatsoever.

Would be a great product but very buggy.
I've had nothing but headaches with the three units we have onsite. They regularly freeze up and lose communication. When they freeze up they still display "Data Recording" but are not actually recording data which resulted in our company having to throw away thousand of dollars in product. I hope they work out the bugs and they might be good units.

Great, but replacing the battery is a hassle
Been buying these for years for our minus 80 freezers since it is one of the few units that can read temperatures so low. My only complaint is that the unit has to be taken apart in order to replace the 9v backup battery, which has to be done about every 8 months. It would really improve the product if that was fixed. Tech support has always been helpful too.

We have over 10 of these, Great Product
I've installed these over a year ago and they have paid for themselves over and over. There are 2 ways to connect to these to get data, but i prefer the Omega Enterprise Gateway which is able to display all on one page. The other way is to connect to the IP address of the monitor. Both work, alarms are invaluable. Great Product, came back here because i'm buying more.

Is a battery required if I don't care about recording if power is disconnected? Will the unit still function normally w/o a battery installed?
Yes, ac power only is ok

Does the isd-tc have a count down timer that freezes the unit when trying to make entries online?
Thank you for your question. There is no count down timer that will freeze the unit while making entries.
