RoHS STATEMENT

Overview

RoHS stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. The original RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC was introduced in the European Union in 2002 and cited the maximum concentration allowed of six (6) hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products. As of July 1, 2006, all applicable products in the EU market must pass RoHS compliance.

Subsequently, this directive was updated to 2011/65/EU, known as RoHS 2, and went into effect on January 2, 2013. RoHS 2 includes a CE-marking directive with RoHS compliance now being required for CE marking of products. RoHS 2 also added Categories 8 and 9 (medical devices and monitoring and control instruments) as well as additional compliance record keeping requirements.

The current RoHS Directive 2015/863/EU, known as RoHS 3, is an amendment to RoHS 2 which adds four (4) additional restricted substances (phthalates) to the original list of six (6), making a total of ten (10) restricted substances.
