Hello Omega team,
I am looking a wire for thermocouple type J and K that being flexible or easy to manipulate with a range of 400 - 800 °F, the wire will be exposed in an environment of 90 °F. could you recommend me one with that characteristics?
Asked by: Anselmo
Thank you for your inquiry. You will need to purchase a thick gauge wire with the fiberglass insulation. For assistance on the exact part number, please email us at temp@dwyeromega.com or call us at 1-888-826-6342.

I have to do high temp testing inside a shipping container. Do I need to run 1 continuous thermocouple to the meter or could I run a high temp wire inside the container and connect it up to a regular thermocouple wire from there to the meter?
Asked by: Segan11
Thank you for your inquiry Segan11. Either or would work but we recommend you use a wire that is rated for the temperature inside the container.

What is IEC standard
Asked by: J R W
Thank you for your interest in our Product
.
IEC will apply to the color coding of the jacket and insulation only. For Thermocouple Grade Type J for example, the color coding is a Black jacket with a (+) Black and (-) white insulation
All accuracy testing of the wire is conducted in accordance with ASTM E 230 which has slightly tighter tolerances in the lower temperature ranges than the IEC 584 specification.

Is the "max temperature" listed (ex. 480C) the maximum temperature an attached thermocouple probe can measure? Or is that the maximum temperature the wire itself can be exposed to?
Asked by: J R B
Thank you for your inquiry. It is the maximum temperature the wire (along with the insulation) itself can be exposed to.
