For high resistance to oxidation and corrosion at high temperatures, OMEGA offers the highest quality uninsulated wire for three types of “noble metal” thermocouples.
They are:
Type S:
Platinum (–) vs.
Platinum 10% Rhodium (+)
Type R:
Platinum (–) vs.
Platinum 13% Rhodium (+)
Type B:
Platinum 6% Rhodium (–) vs.
Platinum 30% Rhodium (+)
Types R and S are recommended for continuous use in oxidizing or inert atmospheres up to 2550°F (1398°C) or short term exposures to 2700°F (1482°C). Type B is rated for continuous use up to 3100°F (1704°C) in oxidizing or inert atmospheres. When operating near these maximum temperatures, the heavier gage wire sizes are recommended.
All three thermocouple types can be used in a vacuum for short periods of time. Type B offers greater stability in such applications. None should be used in reducing atmospheres or in atmospheres containing metallic or non-metallic vapors unless protected by non-metallic protection tubes. Do not insert directly into metallic protection tubes.
Sizes range from 0.001 to 0.032" (0.025 to 0.812 mm) diameter. When requested, wire is supplied in matched pairs which meet or exceed standard limits of error. Special-limits-of-error wire is supplied on request and must be ordered as matched pairs.BR>
Insulated duplex extension grade wire for types R, S, and B are also available. See, for example, model numbers EXGG-RS, EXTT-RS, EXPP-RS under the heading EXTENSION WIRE.

Good thermocouple
Good product. Make sure you order this very far in advance of when you need it. And don't bother paying for fast shipping, I ordered with 3 day shipping and it took over a month to arrive.

make sure you know what you are getting
This is two separate spools of TC wire that need to be welded togeather to make a thermocouple. This is not a bare thermocouple that just needs insulation and connection to a barrier strip or connector.

This is $4.38 per 1 roll of 50 inches?
Hi, thanks for your question. The price is per inch. $4.38/inch. If there is anything further we can help with, please let us know.

Is 32 awg type B wire suitable for temperatures at 1500°C + or - 50°C continuously? If not what is the minimum wire gauge you would recommend for that temperature range?
Omega sells .032" diameter which is 20 AWG which would be good to 1700C as well as 24 AWG. Type B is good for the high temperatures but the -50C could be problematic because many instruments do not actually start reading until the Thermocouple sees several hundred degrees.

For Part number SP30R-010 how many feet of wire is on the spool
Thank you for your inquiry. The SP30R-010 is sold by inch. For a quantity of 1, you would get 1" of positive and negative conductor wire.

The price above shows $56.49 for each of SP30R-020. Please clarify if this price is per roll or per inch? If it is per roll, what will be the length of the roll.
That price would be per inch. As stated in the Data Sheet in fine print: "Ordering unit of measure is double inch. A double inch is 25 mm (1") of positive and 25 mm (1") of matching negative wire."
