Product Overview
  • Probe Diameter 0.125 in
  • Sheath Material 304 Stainless Steel
Accurate thermocouple temperature measurement requires a stable reference junction. It is common practice to create a transition reference junction by attaching a copper lead wire to each thermocouple leg. When the transition reference junction is held at the ice point 0°C (32°F) the output of the thermocouple appearing across the copper leads attached to the readout instrument is stable and predictable. For accuracy and convenience, OMEGA offers its series TRP REFERENCE PROBE which locates the thermocouple-copper transition reference junction at the end of an 1 /8 " diameter sheath for easy insertion into the TRCIII-A ice point calibration chamber. Up to six series TRP Probes can be used at one time in OMEGA’s Ice Point Chamber. Use the temperature-millivolt tables to convert readings into °C or °F when using a voltmeter with the TRCIII-A Ice Point reference cell shown below.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good construction, easy to use I have been using one TRP probe before, and just purchased another 3 sets about 3 weeks ago. One dips the probes in ice water; unit serves a 0 degC reference for thermocouples. With these probes, I've been able to obtain accurate and very precise measurements, and very easy to use. Purchased also with Transition Adaptors (for mini connectors) -- TAS-T-3.

Do these probes require a calibration? If designing a calibration program for these probes what would be the process and the specification? In a previous answer you indicated no offset is generated during calibration. Is it more a functional check then?

Asked by: BFazz
Hi BFazz, Please forward these questions to TEMP@DWYEROMEGA.COM. Best regards OMEGA

Is calibration possible for the TRP reference probes to determine any microvolt offsets?

Asked by: Graham
Hi Graham We do have available NIST traceable certification; add suffix "-CAL-3" to the TRP part#. This is not used to determine an offset though. We do not offer this. Best regards OMEGA
