Hello, What is constraining the minimum temperature. Has the probe just not been tested below 0degC

Asked by: Luna
Thank you for your inquiry. The thermocouples we make are generally made with SLE Thermocouple Wire. Special Limits Of Error Wire (SLE) made products are only spec’d out for temperatures above 32°F (0°C). So anything below 32°F (0°C) does not comply with the SLE specification and we do not put the Process Measurement Range below 0°C. Does this mean that measuring below 0°C is not possible? No. It just means that the accuracy is no longer linear below 0°C.

I am looking into S-type thermocouple (XMO-P10R-U-062-40-A-RP-4). Planning to use it to measure temperatures of approx. 1400C. The environment would be air mixed with methane. Can we use it in that environment? Do we have to replace air with Nitrogen?

Asked by: Damir23
Hi Damir23, Thank you for the inquiry, The XMO sheath is rated for inert, vacuum, and reducing environment. Also, no exposure to chambers using graphite or carbon compounds. You would need to purge the environment and ensure no graphite or carbon present. Best regards OMEGA

I am evaluating your "Very High Temperature Exotic Thermocouple Probes". Right now, Im looking at a type "R"', such a XMO-P13R-U-125-30-A-RP-24. Where can I find a suitable handheld electronic thermometer that you can connect this type of thermocouple?

Asked by: TC1100
There are many handheld meters/data loggers to choose and you can search the website or call the Temperature Engineering group for guidance.
